A Solar Lantern is a portable lighting device consisting of a PV module, battery, lamp, and electronics. Battery, lamp, and electronics are placed in a suitable housing, made of metal or plastic or fiber glass. The Solar lantern is suitable for either indoor or outdoor lighting, covering a full range of 360 degrees. PV module converts sun light into electricity, charges the battery which powers the luminary which consists of White Light Emitting Diode (W-LED).

SOLAR LANTERN CONSISTS OF FOLLOWING COMPONENTS WITH PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Module having crystalline silicon solar cells
  • The module efficiency not less than 10%.
  • The terminal box on the module has a provision of opening it for replacing the cable.

12v 7.2ah SMF VRLA Battery Sealed maintenance free lead acid battery with a capacity of up to 7 AH, at voltages of up to 12V @ C/20 rate of discharge.
Light Source: White Light Emitting Diode (LED)
  1. he colour temperature of W-LED(s) used in the system is  in the range of 5500oK –6500oK.
  2. W-LED(s) doesn’t  emit ultraviolet light.
  3. The light output from the W – LED is constant throughout the duty cycle.
Electronics
  1. Efficiency of the electronic system is > 85%.
  2. Electronics have temperature compensation for proper charging of the battery throughout the year.
  3. 3. The idle current should is less than 1 mA
  4. The PCB containing the electronics is capable of solder free installation and replacement.
  5. Necessary lengths of wires/ cables, switches suitable for DC use and other protections is provided.
ELECTRONIC PROTECTIONS
  1. Adequate protection is incorporated for “No Load” condition.
  2. The system has protection against battery overcharge and deep discharge         conditions.
  3. The load reconnect is provided at around 80% of the battery capacity status.
  4. Adequate protection is provided against battery reverse polarity.
  5. A fuse is provided to protect against short circuit conditions.
  6. Protection for reverse flow of current through the PV module is provided.
INDICATORS The system has two indicators, green and red. The green indicator indicates the charging under progress and glows only when the charging is taking place. It stops glowing when the battery is fully charged. Red indicator indicates the battery “Load Cut Off” condition.

QUALITY AND WARRANTY

  1.  The complete Solar Lantern with W-LED is warranted for five years and the battery is warranted for Two (2) years.
  2.  The Warrantee/ Guarantee Card supplied with the Solar Lantern contains all the details of the system supplied.
